Hearing Aid Batteries
Most hearing aids use a zinc-air battery. These small batteries are not reusable but allow the maximum voltage to be obtained for the longest amount of time as compared to alkaline batteries. Zinc-air batteries come in four sizes, depending on the style, size, and power of your hearing aid. The smallest batteries last about 4-5 days and largest last about 14 days.
Recently, there have been advancements in rechargeable battery technology for hearing aids. One rechargeable battery company that we work with, called Z-Power, makes several sizes or batteries designed to fit select models of a few hearing aid manufactures. Two hearing aid manufacturers, Phonak and Siemens, currently make hearing aid models with rechargeable batteries in select models.
